Guide to building a strong employer brand, step 2: make your value proposition clear

Making your value proposition clear is a critical step in developing your employer brand. A value proposition is a statement that summarizes what your company offers to employees and what makes your company unique as an employer.

Here are some examples of clear Employee Value Propositions (EVPs) from different companies:

  1. Google: "We offer our employees the opportunity to make a difference in the world, work with the latest technologies, and be part of a supportive and innovative culture that values diversity, inclusion, and work-life balance."

  2. Airbnb: "We offer our employees the chance to work in a dynamic and entrepreneurial environment, collaborate with talented and passionate colleagues, and help create experiences that inspire and connect people from all over the world."

  3. Apple: "We offer our employees the opportunity to be part of a company that creates iconic products that transform people's lives, work with the best and brightest in their fields, and enjoy competitive compensation and benefits, including discounts on Apple products and services."

  4. Salesforce: "We offer our employees the chance to work for a company that is committed to creating a more sustainable, equitable, and just world, be part of a supportive and collaborative community that values diversity, and access to opportunities for professional growth and development."

  5. Patagonia: "We offer our employees the opportunity to work for a company that is committed to environmental and social responsibility, enjoy a relaxed and inclusive work environment, and access to generous benefits, including paid time off for environmental activism."

These EVPs highlight the unique value that each company provides to its employees, such as the opportunity to work on meaningful projects, be part of a supportive and collaborative community, and enjoy competitive compensation and benefits. By making their EVPs clear, these companies are able to attract and retain top talent and build a strong employer brand that sets them apart in a competitive marketplace.
